No one who dreams of getting married ever dreams of or wants divorce, but it happens – over 50% of the time and sometimes in some states and countries, higher percentages are seen. Fortunately, it does not have to be this way. If you and your loved one are experiencing problems in your marriage and you (and hopefully both of you) are intent on saving the marriage, there are ways to save your marriage and to remove yourself from the doubt and the constant worries.

Marriage is a challenge; there can be no doubts about that! But, it was designed to be that way. Iron must sharpen iron. When two people from two different social backgrounds, economic backgrounds, ethnic backgrounds, religious backgrounds, political backgrounds and even regional backgrounds try to make a lifelong commitment to each other, issues are bound surface. It’s inevitable and can create real roadblocks as you try to save your Christian or other denominational marriage.

Counseling is a large piece of the puzzle, but, please BEWARE that not all counselors are helpful! And not all counseling is GOOD counseling. There are types of counseling that will absolutely wreck your marriage for good because it’s done from the wrong perspective. So beware trying any old marriage counsellor suggested by the neighbourhood gossip – choose wisely as the counsellor needs to come recommended by others in the same predicament.

If you really truly want a fun-loving partner who will work with you as a team throughout your marriage – if you want to be respected by your friends and your partner as someone who takes great care of your family and your marriage – then you need to perform those actions that will save this marriage.

Saving your marriage will not be the easiest thing in the world to do. But nothing worth having has ever been easy. So enjoy your marriage. Last time I heard, we only get one lap around this track of life. So make the most of it.
